The Old House: Reclaimed

Walking through the woods in Co. Clare I came across an old house that did not seem to have been that long abandoned as the paintwork was fresh inside and a blessing written on the wall was still clearly visible. I was struck by the contrast with this and the way everything had grown around it so that it was impenetrable at the back and sides and ivy and and other plants were making their way through every opening. it suggested the resilience of nature and the transience of human concerns.
I tried to get the sense of the house being swallowed up and the almost frightening way that the natural world was reclaiming the space.
