The Old House: Waiting

The chair is still in front of the hearth as if waiting for someone to return. The walls and surfaces have begun to take on the colours of the forest, bright green algae on the chair and mould and fungus changing the colour of the stonework, as well as the foliage which is creeping along the floor.
I tried to capture the sense of decay and the physicality of the place by using modelling paste to represent the roughness of the walls and layers of acrylic washes over the paint.
