I create art as a means of personal expression of ideas and emotions that are often challenging to acknowledge in a public arena.

This series of paintings emerged from my exploration of grief at the loss of my mother and my start point for the paintings was a pair of crocheted baby shoes that she made.

As I began thinking about having my own children the crocheted shoes began to unravel and evolve into something new. I wanted these paintings to interact with one another in such a way that one would know that they are each linked, yet act as individuals in their own right.

In this work I am exploring life, death and rebirth as a natural and unavoidable part of life. All three are connected inextricably in an ever evolving and continuous pattern of love and loss. Each painting represents a stage in the process of life as cells divide and multiply from one generation to the next.
