Portrait of Intimacy
Self Portrait on Cardbord Packaging using Acrylic, PVA, Gesso and Gel Pens.
I wanted to explore intimacy and fractured relationships through a series of abstract portraits.
These portraits are representations of everybody and nobody.
Everyone and no one.
The facial features are abstracted to try to convey a passing of time and faded memories.
For me they represent a residue of past traumas and our abiliity to possess a selective sense of nostalgia.
I wanted to portray how when seeking comfort in the present we sometimes unknowingly recall the good memories and disregard the not so good.
