A personal reaction to violence against women who walk or run alone. The masculine military parka shaped coat is juxtaposed by the feminity, vulnerability and exposingness of muslin fabric (inspired by Marie Antoinettes portrait). The hood, little Red Riding Hood, a cautionary tale for all little girls. The sleeves are embroidery with the opening lines of the Yeat's poem "come away O Human child to the waters and the wild" which portrays the wild as an escape from the suffering of the world but also of danger a place where innocence is lost. Embedded in the coat are machined and simple hand embroideries of photographs of me, a female, hiking backwards and forwards , staring back at an unknown presence,or sitting wringing my wrists in contemplation.
