Mona Nera

Mona Nera, is an alternative version to the famous Mona Lisa. At that time, as black person she could only be represented by the color of her skin.
The woman does not have a mysterious smile like the Mona Lisa; she does not even smile, because as a slave she has endured far more hardship than many of would admit.
She stares at the horizon as she imagines what her life would be like when she finally acquires her freedom, eager and certain that one day she will.
